My name is Alex Shenoy. Welcome to my little piece of the web. Here's a bio:
I grew up (mostly) in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, where I attended Forest Hills High School. There, I was a member of Technology Student Association and Future Business Leaders of America, where I competed in Computer Programming with C++ (for both).
I first became interested in computers and computer programming when my father bought and assembled our first computer, in 1993. As a young child, I started to learn programming in QBasic, then moved on to Visual Basic. My father taught me a lot about computers and programming. It was through him that I began learning C++. When he passed away, I started to get more involved in computer programming and my aptitude for mathematics made it a natural fit for me.
I attended college at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, where I studied Computer Science. Under the direction of my advisor and mentor, John Slimmick, I researched and educated myself on various topics including software, security, cloud computing, and web programming. I graduated in August of 2010 with a bachelor's degree.
Currently, I work for GAI Consultants, a multi-discipline engineering consulting firm, as an Application Developer, where my duties include maintenance and development of applications for use by employees and clients.
Aside from my computer related exploits, my interests include science fiction novels, movies, music, and comic books. My favorites are Dune, Foundation, Lost, X-Men, Dollhouse, House, Spiderman, Firefly, and Battlestar Galactica. I am a pretty big geek with a fun-loving personality.
